The deadly “white spot” virus has been killing prawns, shrimp and crabs in Barangay Vitali, east of Zamboanga city. The phenomenon is leaving aquaculture operators incurring losses worth hundreds of thousands of investments.

3rd Sept. 2011 Dead fish crisis in SE China.

3rd Sept. 2011 A large amount of cultivated fish were found dead from unkown causes in recent days in the Minjiang River's Shuikou Township area of China. This is the largest aquaculture base in Fujian.

The floating dead fish, decaying in hot weather, have been polluting the river which is the main drinking water resource of the province. The cause is still under investigation.

Norway – A study by Cermaq concludes that the best explanation for the ISA virus in Chile is transmission from Norwegian salmon eggs. Previous studies have linked the ISA virus strain found in Chile to the ISA virus strain previously found in Norway. The study, originally commission by Cermaq, has been mired in controversy since its publication in 2008, due to the potentially serious implications that it could have for the salmon industry.
